Frame Forms is a Brooklyn-based framing studio — born in Red Hook — focused on thoughtful, contemporary custom framing. We believe the frame should support the work, not compete with it: bringing clarity, balance and presence to each piece.

From paintings and works on paper to photographs, prints, and objects, every frame is custom made by hand using carefully selected woods and finishes. We also offer Nielsen metal framing, as well as custom welded metal frames that are individually hand-finished. For glazing, mounting, hinging, and anything that comes into contact with the artwork, we use museum-grade, acid-free archival materials and conservation techniques, including high-quality Japanese papers and conservation-grade adhesives. Each work is approached according to its materials and condition, with mounting and conservation methods chosen to support its long-term preservation.

We learned the craft from a generation of New York framemakers whose workshops date back to the 1940s. Today, we carry that tradition forward in our Red Hook workshop, combining time-tested techniques with modern tools and a contemporary approach to framing. We carefully select our lumber from trusted Long Island yards and oversee every step, from raw wood to finished frame.

We work closely with our clients, offering guidance on materials, proportions, finishes, conservation, and design. Our approach is simple: elegant, thoughtful framing, made to protect the artwork and built to last — with quality craftsmanship, contemporary design, and fair pricing.
